dc.description.abstract Globalization, while in itself not a new concept, is gathering momentum in its ability to touch and redefine the lives of young people, either directly or indirectly, through its pace, extent and complexity. For young people with the skills and resources to maximize the opportunities that advancements in technology, economics, politics, culture and the environment are bringing to the fore, globalization has heralded new found opportunities and the chance for economic development and prosperity. Yet for those young people living on the margins of society, without education, work skills, financial resources or opportunities, globalization has widened the gap and greatly limited their ability to find a meaningful place in the mainstream world. en
