Abstract:
This chapter examines the feasibility of including the regional institutes the regional institutions of Southern Africa - Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and the SADC - in a proposed IOR trading block. It argues that given the South African commitment to Southern Africa, and the potential benefits from economic co-operation with IOR, the possibility of including SACU and SADC in an IOR economic association is worthy of consideration.
