Abstract:
The Stakeholder Engagement on ???Livestock Vaccine Value chains in South Africa: Linking producers to the markets and end-users??? forms part of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) IDRC-funded project, Novel livestock vaccines for Viral Diseases in Africa towards improved food security (CIFSRF phase 2), involving a broad value chain of activities and initiatives. The primary objective of this research project is to complete development of a 5-in-1 vaccine for viral diseases of livestock, scale up of the vaccine, field testing, and pathway development to commercialization. A significant task
coupled to this project is to assess potential social and economic impacts of the use of the developed vaccine in small-scale livestock farming communities across disease-prevalent parts of Africa.
