Abstract:
Chronic unemployment and poverty have deepened despite numerous interventions. Over and above Covid-19 impacts, they amount to a chronic disaster that is unravelling our wellbeing and social cohesion and weakening our constitutional democracy. A pilot basic income grant offers a way out of the looming crisis.
