dc.description.abstract This chapter aims to reflect on some of the ways in which hetero-socialisation operates within the family as an institution and within the law as an authority that lays claim to and delimits ideas of acceptable bodies and behaviours. Employing a multi-disciplinary approach, this chapter reflects on oppressive heteronormative values and how these often operate in opposition to the best interests of non-heterosexual children. en
