Abstract:
Long vital to social development in South Africa, the non-profit sector - broadly meaning the organisations which are neither profit making nor part of government - has long lacked comprehensive research. This book reports the first ever study which can fairly claim to describe the size of the sector in terms of its employment, volunteers, and finances, as well as its spread across different sectors of activity.
