This report brings together practical examples of workplaces that have made a difference in achieving good outcomes through their HIV and AIDS workplace programmes in Namibia. Since 2001, the ILO HIV and AIDS and the World of Work Branch (ILOAIDS) as well as its partners have supported Ministries of Labour, employers' organizations and workers' organizations in more than 60 countries across the world to develop, implement and monitor HIV workplace programmes. These initiatives have facilitated access to HIV services (treatment, prevention, support and care) for women and men as workers in the private-public sectors and formal-informal economies together with their dependants and families, thus moreover extending to the public. Against this background, ILOAIDS commissioned the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) to conduct the study on what works in achieving good outcomes in the world of work and HIV/AIDS, i.e. how and why, good outcomes were achieved, as well as find out which conducive environmental factors contributed to achievement of good outcomes. The study showcases examples of minimum standards, the unique and valuable knowledge and experience in the world of work and HIV and AIDS that have been shared by workplaces across different sectors. |
