dc.description.abstract Appointed in 1994 as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa, now retired, Justice Yvonne Mokgoro was not only the first black woman to be appointed to the Constitutional Court bench, but also one of only two women, the other being Justice Kate O'Regan. She was also one of the youngest judges to ascend to the Constitutional Court bench. Mokgoro served as judge for 15 years, until the end of her term in 2009. en
