Abstract:
Govan Archibald Mvuyelwa ("Oom Gov") Mbeki was both a chronicler of the history and aims of the ANC, and an architect of its revolutionary tactics. He was instrumental in the development of the M-plan; he planned and coordinated underground conferences; and he was a member of the national high command of the military wing of the ANC, Umkhonto weSizwe (MK). His numerous publications include one that was written on toilet paper, and smuggled out of Robben Island prison.
