Abstract:
Gangathura Mohambry 'Monty' Naicker was a political activist who drew heavily from the Gandhian philosophy of satyagraha throughout his life. As well as leading several campaigns of non-violent 'passive' resistance, he was one of the few Congress Alliance members who opposed the adoption of an armed struggle and the formation of Umkhonto weSizwe (MK).
