Abstract:
This paper is a follow-up from the Human Sciences Research Council's (HSRC's) Comprehensive Status Report on Population, Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Development in South Africa, prepared for the Department of Social Development (DSD) to be used by South Africa's delegation to the 53rd United Nations Commission on Population and Development (UN CPD) meeting that took place in April 2020. The 2020 report provided the country's insights on the Food, Nutrition and Security (FNS) status of different demographic groups. It also served as a key basis for South Africa's statement to the UN CPD, which was anticipated to help in the monitoring, review and assessment of global progress vis'-vis important issues such as food security, water and climate change.
