Abstract:
The first-ever study on HIV and AIDS-related knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of students and staff at South Africa's technical and vocational education and training colleges (TVETs) was undertaken by the HEAIDS programme, which is the initiative of the Department of Higher Education and Training. In 2008-9, HEAIDS conducted a similar knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and perceptions survey in the universities sub-sector, and hence this study deepens our understanding of the higher education and
training sector?s health and wellness needs and priorities. The research signals the commitment of the department to address the complexities of the post-schooling sector and deliver on its mandate, which is to produce high-quality graduates and future leaders for society.
