Abstract:
This policy brief reflects on policies and practices that pertain to local communities surrounding development
projects such as mega dam construction, urban expansion and mining activities in the Southern Africa development Community (SADC) countries, focusing on Zimbabwe and South Africa. The reflection is underpinned by the Zimbabwe government's Vision 2030, which is an ambitious and transformative agenda aimed at achieving an Empowered and Prosperous Upper Middle-Income Society by 2030. The vision can only be realized through the implementation of successive national development strategies.
