Living labs, community-based tech hubs, gather resources, expertise, and community knowledge to devise solutions to local problems. The model positions community members as co-creators as well as beneficiaries of innovations, which then have greater uptake within the surrounding community. A recent HSRC study illuminated the positive and far-reaching impact of some of South Africa's living labs, suggesting that they warrant greater government support as transformational tools. |
