Abstract:
There are currently no gender-responsive health policies addressing COVID-19 in South Africa. While it remains
important to develop and implement policies aimed at the prevention and control of COVID-19 transmission,
it is equally important to develop policies that will aim to manage the varied impact of COVID-19. Given their
elevated risk, long-term health management for women with long COVID should be a priority. This brief highlights
the need for gender focused interventions for long COVID in South Africa.
