Abstract:
The current South African statistics indicate that the South African government has been showing some successes in reducing inequality. It has achieved these by increasing opportunities that provide access to food for the South African and helping South African to secure employment, by supporting sectors that employ them, including the agricultural and private sectors; promoting economic development; and reducing food insecurity. However, the COVID-19 crisis as it ran from March 2020 to December 2021 seems to have undone these efforts or to some extent it has stifled a multitude of these ambitious policy actions.
