Abstract:
In Chapter 10 we discussed the struggles that the South African government is experiencing in its quest to eradicate poverty and secure food among its "vulnerable" citizenry amidst the list of ambitious policy initiatives it has developed and implemented. We have also shown major disruptions in the means used by South African households and individuals at large to secure a decent income and nutritious food, especially in the context of the global economic slowdown and in the wake of the hard countrywide lockdown due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
