Abstract:
A significant feature of Africa at a Glance in recent years has been the subdivision of the tables to provide data for African macro-regions, such as Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, Southern Africa, Northeast Africa, Central Africa, West Africa and the Western Indian Ocean. During 2020 and 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a global economic downturn, leading to a decrease in trade volumes, slower global GDP growth and disruptions in supply chains. The impacts of these trends on Africa’s development will likely only be revealed in the data presented in the next edition as, while the data compilation for this edition was completed in March 2024, it
should be noted that information more recent than 2022 was unavailable on several topics.
