dc.description.abstract In pursuing a research agenda on the public and science, future research endeavors may encompass the dimensions of (i) the heterogeneous nature of society; (ii) the attitudes, values, and knowledge of the general public; and (iii) the dimension of communication and awareness programs. This framework would consider both science and the public as important stakeholders in the relationship and acknowledges that each affects the other, rather than previous frameworks which gave science a position of power and perceived the public to be more or less deficient. en
