dc.description.abstract this chapter will show what the research tells us about different types of literacy and language education models which are used to implement language education policy. It will show a historical progression of emerging language education models used in Africa. The models will be analysed in terms of their design features and their potential outcomes. Finally, the chapter points the way toward improving the design and implementation of language models which can better serve children in the African continent and, by doing so, serve the interests of governments, economies and society at large. en
