Abstract:
This chapter outlines the eight approaches to understanding personality as described in this chapter. It shows how each personality theorist attempts to answer the question of individual similarities and differences. It further describes the theoretorical concepts that are unique to Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Erik Erikson, Raymond Cattell, Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, George Kelly and Albert Bandura. The chapter also gives critique to mainstream approaches to personality and describes how culture influences personalities.
