dc.description.abstract Is there still more to expect of democracy in South Africa? Yes, and no. This ambiguity attests, partially to the concentrated essence of the historical dialectic of democracy as a concept and a practice. In South Africa, there is a lot to expect, a lot to hope for and to anticipate. It could be a perpetual state of "hoping" until our democracy finds a way to retrieve its own mistakes. But it takes democracies a long time to arrive at this moment of truth. en
