Abstract:
This book provides a critical appraisal of the processes for establishing regional governance in South Africa. The stage for the new regional political economies was set by the exercise of regional demarcation in South Africa which took place between May and November 1993. The book provides readers with a first hand account of struggles, contestations which were inherent during the process of drawing up regional boundaries in the constitutions. Readers are provided too with a critical account of the process, the constraints that members of the Commission faced, and the compromises which were ultimately reached in November 1993.
