Abstract:
This article concentrates on the mathematics results of Grade 8 and Grade 7 learners. The article starts off with some background information on the South African education system and is followed by a discussion on the significance of TIMSS for mathematics education in South Africa. The article finally suggests further research projects that arise from the study, mentions one such project that is already underway and presents some overall conclusions and recommendations.
