Abstract:
Over 75% of the economic activities in Africa and other developing countries occurs in the informal sector. On the other hand, over 75% of economic activities in developed and transition economies occurring the formal sector. This represents the major division between economies of the North and that of the South. The informal sector has grown rapidly in many developing countries providing employment for between 33% and 75% of the urban, economically active population).
